Are You too Busy for God?
Busy! Busy! Busy! How do we get so busy? We are running a race, and it seems like we never can quite catch up. There is so much to get done in a day, and so many people to care for. It can be a daunting task, to say the least.
We must remember what the Bible tells us in Matthew 19:26 about all things being possible with God. The key words here are “with God”. Without Him, nothing is possible! On the days that are just too overwhelming, it is so great to know that you can turn to Him for guidance. It is wonderful to remember the promise that He will never give us more than we can bear.
God has a marvelous plan for our lives! The problem is…we let ourselves get in the way. We have plans to carry out, schedules to keep, places to go, and people to see. We try to live our lives according to OUR plans and OUR needs. What we need to be doing is waiting on God to show us HIS plan for our lives. What about the needs of others? Should those not be of importance to us as well?
Even when we think we are living a life of service, we can still fall short. How many projects can we take on at church or in ministry before we get so busy that we lose time to have a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior? We can get so busy “doing good works” that we lose that intimacy that gave us the desire to serve Him in the first place.
Are you resting in the Lord? Are you taking time each day, despite your busy schedule, to seek Him in word and prayer? Are you singing songs of worship or sitting quietly in anticipation of hearing His voice? Are you inviting the Holy Spirit into your heart each day and committing your life to Him? It is only through this close, intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father that we can TRULY serve him and live according to His will.
